Limit my search to r/retrobattlestations. SanDisk no longer offers an OEM or fixed disk Compact flash card line. It works on Windows with USB flash drives. The RetroBattlestations community is about using, repairing, replicating, emulating, and reminiscing about retro & vintage battlestations. Links should be about using retro equipment or news about retro stuff, whether it’s personal projects, new products, old articles, or reusing old hardware in new ways. Feel free to show off your machines, but please keep your posts about actual battlestations. No pictures of old software, documentation, accessories, unless a complete battlestation is included. 'Wanted' posts and free items for pickup are ok (as text/self posts, include your location & [Wanted] or [Free] in title), but 'for sale' posts, ebay links, or 'what's this stuff worth' posts are not. No you didn't just find a pot of gold or win the lottery, and if you did,. Looking for more Retro Computing subreddits? ![]() Not enough Retro Gaming action here? Looking for help? When you're asking a question or starting a discussion you need to make a 'self' or text post. Feel free to ask for help with getting an old computer or game console resurrected or how to get old software into an emulator. So, I recently became the owner of a lovely little Toshiba Libretto 50CT laptop, snagged for just under $100 on CraigsList (along with a docking station, PCMCIA floppy drives and tons of other neat accessories) I've been bashing my head against the wall for several days now with trying to get it to run from a CF card however. The more I trawl the internet, the more I stumble onto forum posts saying it needs a 'Fixed Disk' or 'Fixed Bit' mode CF card. Something I cannot for the life of me find! I already picked up a lovely 32GB Lexar Professional 800x on Amazon, only to eventually hit the wall with it (having thrown it in both the Libretto and a Thinkpad 560X among others) So I finally decided to just give up and ask people who have probably been in the exact spot I have What CF cards can I readily buy that support Fixed Disk/IDE mode? From Transcend commercial CF cards are set to be Removable Disks, whereas Transcend industrial CF cards are Fixed Disks. From SanDisk no longer offers an OEM or fixed disk Compact flash card line. There also is no utility available to change retail Compact Flash cards from removable to fixed disk. That can supposedly set some SanDisk cards to fixed disk mode. Including some info on good/bad cards. It also references the utility above. Transcend 133X/266X/300X: These cards are known to identify themselves as fixed disk via CF-IDE adapters without any manual intervention, and is of good value, and speed (for 266X/300X). SanDisk Extreme supposedly works with the above utility. Kingston Ultimate supposedly changes if it's used in an IDE adapter, but unconfirmed. Photofast 533X supposedly works as a fixed disk.
